This curricular unit is organized into two modules, namely in a medical devices module (33 contact hours) and in an artificial organs module (12 contact hours). In the firt one, one intends to confer knowledge in the area of 3D surface information acquisition of anatomical structures and medical devices. This is followed by the corresponding reconstruction and connection to geometrical modelling of customized devices(/adapted). There are also objectives of the first module the mechanical behavior simulation as well as the evaluation of rapid prototyping requisites. The second module aims at exposing the constitution and operation of different types of artificial organs acting at urinary, pancreatic, hepatic and pulmonary systems.
