The main objective is to acquire skills in procedures and research methods with particular emphasis on Integrated Optoelectronics, Visible Light Communication, Integrated Photonics, Bioelectronics, Intelligent Sensors and Electronic Systems of Computers. A student upon completion of this course unit should be able to:

1. Develop capacities to review the literature and know the state of the art.
2. Structure a scientific article and make an oral presentation of it.
3. Perform the thesis plan. This plan should include the phases of: Identification of the problem; recognition of the state of the art; hypothesis formulation; proposal elaboration and hypothesis testing. It also includes the accomplishment of bibliographical research and familiarization with tools and techniques useful for the accomplishment of the thesis.
