A. Filipe Maçarico has a degree in Physical Engineering and Materials Science from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Faculty of Science and Technology, took Public Exams at the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon where he obtained the title of Specialist in Electronic Engineering.

He is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics at the Lisbon Higher Institute of Engineering, teaches courses in basic physics for engineering and electronics.

Develops research activities in the production and characterization of semiconductor and nanomaterials. He is a member of ADEETC's Optoelectronics and Sensors Microelectronics Research Group (GIAMOS), and collaborator with the Uninova Technology and Systems Center (CTS).
