Intended learning outcomes

At the end of this course, the student shall be able to:

  1. Understand various fundamental physical concepts of mechanics and be able to describe and analyze, not only qualitatively but also quantitatively, static and dynamic problems applied to the human body; for that the student shall use simplified mechanical models;
  2. Understand the fundamental concepts of fluid mechanics and how to apply them in problem solving applied to different systems of the human body;
  3. Understand the mechanical properties of various biological structures (bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage), and know how to analyze both qualitatively and quantitatively the response of these structures to different mechanical agents.
  4. Verify and apply the learned concepts in various practical laboratory experiments.
