Intended learning outcomes
Prestressed Concrete aims to give students a solid understanding about design and execution of prestressed concrete structures, with special emphasis on those using post-tensioning technique. Students are supposed to develop the followings skills:
- Be able to decide if a given structural element should be prestressed or not.
- Learn the specific terminology of prestressing techniques.
- Be aware of the importance of the durability.
- Be able to choose a proper cable layout and the prestressing force to apply. e) Join smoothly in a team who execute or oversee tensioning operations.
- Be able to interpret the measured elongations and list possible causes whenever there is significant deviation between measured and theoretical elongations.
- Learn how to design and verify the safety of prestressed concrete elements.
