Once the student has passed this course unit, he (she) will be able to:
- To evaluate the importance of enzyme processes in modern society.
- Describe enzyme mechanisms and to know the most common mechanisms of enzyme inhibition.
- Understand the different strategies of protein engineering and recombinant DNA technology to obtain new biocatalysts.
- Characterize different immobilization methodologies of biocatalysts, as well as to recognize their relevance on an industrial scale.
- Develop biocatalysis in non-conventional media and to know their applications in Industry and Medicine.
- Describe several types of biosensors as well as advances in the field of biosensors.
- Understand the relevance of antibody engineering such as the modification of recombinant antibodies.
