On March 27th, a maintenance and planting action took place on the ISEL Campus in urban mini-forests, also known as biodiversity islands, following the Miyawaki Method. This initiative was part of the ISEL Eco-Campus program and involved the active participation of students, teachers and staff, promoting the involvement of the academic community in the revitalization of green spaces.
The organization and support of the activity were the responsibility of Vítor Gordo, mentor of the Biodiversity Islands project, in collaboration with the Nurseries of Lisbon City Council. The event reinforced ISEL's commitment to sustainability, promoting ecological practices on campus.
To mark World Tree Day, an information plaque was installed about the Biodiversity Islands, highlighting their importance for ecological regeneration and environmental balance. Furthermore, several native species were planted close to building A, contributing to the preservation of biodiversity on the campus.
This action demonstrates ISEL's commitment to fostering sustainable practices and promoting environmental awareness among the academic community, reinforcing the role of urban miniforests in promoting biodiversity and creating a more balanced and healthy environment.
