The objective of UC is to familiarize students with technologies and advanced applications of optoelectronics and photonics in photovoltaic energy production, lasers technology, photonic integrated circuits. The physics of device operation and their integration into systems are presented, so when successfully completing this unit, students must have a solid theoretical base that allows them to understand the devices' functioning and the physics of the materials used in traditional design systems as well as in the latest generation systems.
Throughout the semester students are also accompanied in the acquisition of complementary skills in the accomplishment of scientific communications, scientific documents and oral presentations, emphasizing the good practices of ethics and scientific integrity in the modern context of science and the open access publishing.
