Fernando Costa Oliveira graduated in Metallurgical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico of the Technical University of Lisbon in 1986, earned a MSc degree from the University of Leeds (UK) in 1989 and a PhD degree from the Technical University of Delft (The Netherlands) in 1992.
Since Feb. 2020, he is an invited assistant professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of ISEL, where he teaches Materials.
Besides his activity at ISEL, he is a principal researcher at the Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia I.P., where he is currently responsible for the research area of Development of Materials for Renewable Energies within the scope of the Materials for Energy Unit of the Laboratory of Energy, at LNEG campus in Lisbon. He is also a senior member of Ordem dos Engenheiros and the Portuguese Materials Society.
