Teresa Moura e Silva (PhD in Chemical Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, 2001), is Associated Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of ISEL, and a member of Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE).
Her research objectives are focused on the domain of energy storage. In this field, she has participated in several national and international projects in which new surface functionalisation strategies have been developed, and novel high-efficient materials with high surface area and electroactivity have been produced for supercapacitors and hydrogen production.
Studies on corrosion and protection of metallic materials, with special relevance on biomaterials and their modification for enhanced biocompatibility and corrosion resistance, are also one of the main areas of research. In this frame surface modification by ion implantation, anodizing and development of new routes, based on environmentally green solutions for enhancing corrosion resistance has been carried out.
