Vitor Anes was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1976, and obtained his master, and PhD degrees in mechanical engineering in 2009 and 2015, respectively, both from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. In 2020 he obtained his PhD in engineering design and advanced manufacturing, also from Instituto Superior Técnico in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a faculty member of Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering since 2015, where he has been lecturing for undergraduate and master's degrees students in mechanical engineering and industrial engineering and management. Vitor Anes has been carrying out research activities in several areas such as the development of new products, mechanical design, mechanical characterization of materials, structural integrity, selection of materials, reliability, risk assessment and management in innovation, multicriteria decision making, and simulation of processes and operations. He has been a collaborator on several research projects and has more than 70 articles published in scientific journals and international conference proceedings. Recently, Vitor Anes has been developing risk assessment and management models for complex systems using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The applications of this work aim to support decision making activities in the development and implementation of innovation projects.
