Intended learning outcomes
OBJECTIVES:
Introduction to geotechnical engineering component of the underground excavations. Provide the basic principles of geological and geotechnical characterization recognition. Identify the problems and risks in the tunnels works.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
a) Terminology of the art of tunnel construction.
b) Identify the geological and environmental data needed to study and design of underground works.
c) Characterize the means and construction methods needed to perform a particular work.
d) Risk analyses of damage from underground works in urban areas. Interference the underground works at surface buildings and methods of mitigating the damage risks.
