Rita Pacheco has a degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and a PhD in Biochemical Technology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon.

She works as an Assistant Professor in the Departmental Area of Chemical Engineering at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa where she teaches subjects in the Bioengineering Section and supervises several Master's theses. She is a collaborator at the Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology Research Center (CIEQB) and at the Chemical Engineering Study Center (CEEQ) of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa.

She carries out research activities at the Biosystems and Integrative Sciences Institute (BioISI) at the University of Lisbon. She is the author of several scientific articles in international journals and has been involved in several research and development projects, both as a principal investigator and team member.
