As stated in the standard ISO 31000, the concept of risk is defined as the "impact of uncertainty on the achievement of objectives". This impact can be translated as a positive or negative deviation from the expected, while uncertainty, in turn, can be defined as a lack of knowledge or information about a particular action or the resulting outcomes. Risk can be expressed in a variety of ways but is usually represented by a combination of the consequences or impact of a particular event and the associated probabilities of occurrence. Also in the ISO 31000 standard, the term "risk assessment" refers to the architecture (principles, structure and process) for effective risk assessment, while the term "risk management" refers to the application of that architecture to specific risk scenarios. Risk management is thus understood as "coordinated activities to manage and control an organization in relation to risk" In this sense, this UC aims to provide students with skills that will enable them to implement and manage this type of architecture for risk scenarios.
