"This is an important moment, especially because of the role you play in the Pedagogical Council. On the one hand, you are the ones who interact with the course coordinators and are, in some way, responsible for identifying and transmitting problems, but also for being integrated in this council, which is a peer council, with the number of professors and students being equal."
With these words, the President of ISEL, Professor José Nascimento, began the acceptance ceremony of the student course delegates, held on January 8, 2025, in ISEL's Auditorium C.
The event was attended by an audience composed of students, course coordinators, the President of the Pedagogical Council, Professor Sandra Aleixo, and the Vice-President of the Pedagogical and Quality Area of ISEL, Professor Carla Viveiros. During the ceremony, the President called the elected delegates to the stage.

This meeting aimed to promote a moment of reflection between teachers and researchers from different areas of knowledge, to identify and define themes to be explored in collaborative projects, within the scope of the priority themes of the European university.
The Polytechnic of Lisbon was represented by 5 ISEL researchers, namely, António Serrador (DEETC/ISEL), Mário Mendes (DEM/ISEL), Miguel Minhalma (DEQ/ISEL), Nuno Datia (DEETC/ISEL), and also Cristina Cruz, from the Lisbon School of Education (ESELx).
The activities during the Research Days 2024 were organized around the three 3 Centers of Expertise (CoE) of the U! REKA European University:
Climate Neutral Urban Communities
Transition to Circular Society
Innovative Governance & Citizen Engagement
Using collaborative and active methodologies, the researchers shared experiences and knowledge aligned with the values of U! REKA: Inclusion, Co-creation and Audacity.
This initiative allowed to create synergies between the different partners of the consortium, to identify and meet peers in the different teams with common interests and to expand and strengthen the network of contacts. New ideas in co-creation were also explored, which will be deepened in the coming months in the working groups that were set up.

On November 12th, students from the Department of Civil Engineering had the opportunity to visit the Railway Operational Command Center (CCO) of Infraestruturas de Portugal, S.A. (IP), in Braço de Prata.
The visit, accompanied by professor Luísa Teles Fortes (DEC/ISEL), provided students who are currently studying curricular units in the Communication Routes area of the Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, with a global view of the model implemented by IP in terms of Railway Traffic Management and Control, including processing and processing of information in real time.
This multidisciplinary center of excellence, equipped with the most modern support systems for railway operations, commands, controls and manages railway circulation in its area of coverage, covering a total of 1,200 km. The ISEL group was received by one of those responsible for the Center, Dr. João Bento, providing a great opportunity to watch the operation of a unit of this kind.
